Why does thermal paper sticker label fade?
The coating of the thermal paper self-adhesive label contains specific thermal components, such as no color dye (such as crystal violet lactone of triphenylphthalide system, fluorane management system, etc.) and color developing agents (such as para-hydroxybenzoic acid and its esters, salicylic acid, etc.). When these ingredients are heated, a chemical reaction occurs between them to produce color. However, this color reaction is reversible, that is, the colored products will decompose themselves to varying degrees, resulting in the gradual fading of the color of the writing.
Is it better to buy a self-adhesive label with or without lamination?
The choice of coated or non-coated self-adhesive labels mainly depends on the specific use scenario and needs.
Coated self-adhesive labels have the following advantages:
Protect the label from wear: The film can effectively prevent the label surface from being worn and scratched, thereby extending the service life of the label.
Waterproof and oil-resistant: The coated material usually has waterproof and oil-resistant characteristics, which can maintain the clarity of the label pattern in wet or greasy environments.
Improve the quality of the label: The coating makes the label harder, smoother, and glossy, improving the visual effect and sense of grade of the label, which may improve the customer experience.
However, coated self-adhesive labels also have some shortcomings and need to pay attention to:
High cost: Due to the need for additional coating materials and processes, the cost is relatively high.
Environmental issues: The production of coated labels usually requires the use of more chemicals, which may have a certain impact on the environment.
Non-coated self-adhesive labels have the following advantages:
Low cost: there is no need to use additional materials and equipment in the production process, so the cost is low.
Environmental protection: do not use additional materials and chemical agents, more environmentally friendly.
However, non-coated labels also have some disadvantages:
Easy to wear: there is no protective layer, the label is easy to be worn and scratched.
Not waterproof and oil resistant: easy to be polluted and eroded by water and oil, which may affect the clarity and texture of the pattern.
Therefore, when choosing, if the label needs frequent contact with water, oil or other substances that may cause wear, or needs to present a higher visual texture, then the coated self-adhesive label may be a better choice. On the contrary, if cost is an important consideration, or the label is used in a relatively dry and safe environment, then non-coated self-adhesive labels may be more appropriate. In general, decisions should be made based on specific needs and budgets.
